At VITALAGE, we use steroid injections to treat keloids, raised, and/or hypertrophic scars. The number of treatments required to achieve the desired result is dependent upon on the type of scar at hand and the severity. Of course, it is of utmost importance that the dosage of steroid used in the injection be carefully administered. Overdose mayresult in undesirable side effects such as skin discolouration, skin atrophy or microvascular proliferation. The total dosage used for local administration of steroid injection at the skin level is usually quite low. As such, risks of systemic steroid side effects are limited.
